Hitachi is really packing things in—to storage discs, that is. A full one hundred slim-and-trim DVDs, which can hold up to 9.4GB each, have been smashed into one equally slim disc, holding an incredible 940GB. You can expect to pay up to US$340 for one of these discs, but do the math and you might discover that you won't need to buy any more storage capacity for a few years.
Hitachi is also working on a next-generation version of the discs. That would be a Blu-ray DVD, of course, since Hitachi is on that side of the next-gen DVD divide. It's still in the works, so stay tuned.
